Jennies Branch Baptist Church desperately needed a rebrand that accurately reflects the church and a website for better communication.

Project Details

Jennies Branch Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church located in coastal North Carolina. As the church continues to grow, the leadership team wanted a better way to communicate with the congregation. As events were planned, there was a growing need for volunteers and supporters. The church needed a way to recruit these individuals as well as spread the word about their upcoming events, special occasions, and significant Sundays.

The church also presented the need for a new logo and brand redesign. They felt as though their previous logo and branding did not accurately reflect who they were as a local congregation. Previously, Jennies Branch Baptist Church had worked with a designer that did not listen and take seriously the needs of the church. Therefore, the final product was not optimal for their situation. They drastically needed a digital makeover!

When we first began to work on this project, Divine Digital Design met with Pastor Mark and his wife, April. The two of them explained their current grievances regarding their website at that time as well as their logo and branding. We listened carefully to their concerns and took notes that we would reference later during the design phase. We also helped Mark and April better understand their own situation by asking questions about their church, current ministries, outreach methods, and other methods of leveraging social media for ministry.

As we spoke with Mark and April, the most important thing we did was listen to their desires, goals, and visions for the future. This is how we formulated our strategy for the design of their new church website and branding. They expressed a desire to design a logo with branding assets that would last for a long time and become something their community could identity with their church. They also expressed the desire to be able to manage their new website on their own so that they could easily upload pictures, change text, and add pages as they needed.

Based on the goals and grievances Mark and April shared, we were able to come up with a plan for redesigning the church's logo and overall branding guidelines. There was a need to create a logo that represented the church as the previous logo had nothing to do with the church or its values and beliefs. The church also needed a consistent color palette for their branding.

These conversations proved to be fruitful as we built a website that they, and the church, absolutely loved! The website made it easy for church members to view upcoming events and even register for certain special events. We provided Mark, April, and their ministry team with training that would allow them to take complete control of their website. The secretary was able to upload weekly bulletins for the congregation to see. April has been able to upload the photos they have taken of recent events. All and all, this new website checked all of their boxes!

Concerning the rebrand, Jennies Branch Baptist Church expressed how they couldn't have been more pleased! The church was named after a creek, so there was a desire to reflect a creek in the color choices of the brand. We used a blue and teal color as the primary and secondary colors for the brand kit. A magenta accent color was provided to provide contrast and is meant to represent the sun setting over Jennies Branch. The logo was a fun challenge for us as they wanted a cross-themed logo that intertwined with a water theme. Therefore, we made the cross beams flowy and wavy like a gentle stream. There is also a logo icon of a wave that represents the church's proximity to water - particularly the ocean. This project was a great success!
